EXPLORING PATTADAKAL

                         Pattadakal, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is a beautiful example of ancient Indian architecture. Located by the Malaprabha River in Karnataka, this place was once the ceremonial capital of the Chalukya kings. The temples here are a mix of South Indian (Dravidian) and North Indian (Nagara) styles. The Virupaksha Temple and Mallikarjuna Temple are the main attractions, decorated with amazing carvings that tell stories from Indian mythology. Walking around Pattadakal feels like stepping into history, with every stone telling a tale.

  1. Shivayogi Mandir (5 km): A peaceful spot featuring a gaushala (cow shelter) and facilities for traditional vibhuti (sacred ash) making, offering a glimpse into local spiritual traditions.

    • Banashankari Temple: A highly revered temple dedicated to Goddess Banashankari, known for its unique architecture and spiritual significance.

    • Food and Refreshments: Opposite the entrance, shops sell quality ice creams and snacks.
    • Beware of Monkeys: Keep your belongings safe, as monkeys can be mischievous.

    • By Road: Buses and taxis connect Pattadakal with Badami (22 km) and Bagalkot (40 km).
    • By Train: The nearest railway station is in Badami.
    • By Air: Hubli Airport, located 130 km away, is the closest.

    Traveling by car is the most convenient way to explore Pattadakal and its nearby attractions.
